There is no general government grant for spray foam removal. In March 2026, Homebuilding & Renovating reported that the government will not give direct financial help to pay for removal.
If your foam was fitted under ECO or GBIS
Officials said any household with a measure fitted under the ECO or Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) schemes is entitled to have non-compliant work, including spray foam, put right by the original installer. All measures fitted under those schemes must come with a guarantee.
- Find your paperwork. The installation contract, the guarantee, and any product certificate such as a BBA certificate.
- Contact the original installer and ask them to put the work right.
- If they won't or can't, use the guarantee provider, the installer's certification body or TrustMark's complaints process.
If you paid for it privately
Check whether the installer gave you a guarantee, and whether the company still trades. If the installer has closed, the guarantee provider may still be able to help.
Other ways to spread the cost
- Some removal firms offer finance. Check the interest rate and terms carefully.
- If you're releasing equity, some lifetime mortgages have allowed the foam to be removed after the money is released. See equity release and spray foam.
